To you retirees - thank you for serving the students, staff, families, and community of MMSD. We are deeply honored by the commitment you made to MMSD, as well as the countless lives you have touched during your service. Your legacy will continue to inspire for many years to come.
Alisa Brown walked the halls of La Follette High School every day as a student before graduating in 2003. Today she’s walking the same hallways, but this time as an architectural assistant in MMSD, designing and organizing the school’s 2020 referendum construction.
On Monday, June 27, the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) Board of Education approved and adopted the 2022-2023 preliminary budget by a vote of 6 to 1. The balanced budget maintains the necessary resources to increase student achievement opportunities, as well as providing resources to support early literacy and beyond efforts.
Forecasts are showing warmer weather this week, be sure to stay cool, and hydrated.
When the weather is severe, we want you to know how we will make decisions about closing any in-person programming in MMSD buildings. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we always follow a set of guidelines to make decisions about whether the school will be open or closed.
Free Healthy Meals for Kids
Stressing the importance of offering nutritious meals to children during the summer months, the Madison Metropolitan School District announces the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program.
Effective at the start of the summer semester, we are modifying wearing a mask indoors from “required” to “highly recommended.” This decision comes after our continued review of current metrics, recent CDC guidance and following the unanimous recommendation of our medical advisors.
Tennessee State University (TSU) will be home to six graduating Memorial High School graduates this fall!

Justin Kearney-Allis Elementary What I really need here is a picture. For even a thousand words, can not portray the visuals that run through my head as I "see" the halls of Frank Allis. The thousands of children that were touched by the ever presence of Justin Kearney. Every child needs to know they matter, that someone has their back. Justin is that person to so many past and present Allis scholars. They know not only because he told them, words arent really his way, but they know because he showed them by his presence at school, on the bus, in their neighborhood, at their ball games, at their homes. SEE the picture....for it is a beautiful example of love for others. Thank you, Justin!
